57th Annual Convention 2016
Plaza Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas, NV - November 13-20, 2016
"Oahu Neighborhood Board filing has started for those interested in becoming candidates. Applicants may apply online at www.honolulu.gov/nco or call for a registration form at 808-768-3717. Candidacy is open to residents of Oahu who will be age 18 by February 20, 2015. Oahu residents who voted in the 2014 elections are automatically registered to vote in the 2015 Neighborhood Board elections. The Neighborhood Board System is a government sponsored civic engagement system. It is advisory in nature, and board activities may include study and review of capital improvement projects and zoning issues. Also up for consideration may be educational programs on governmental decision making processes and establishment of community goals, objectives and priorities. Voting begins on April 21, 2015 and board members serve two year terms. As an aside: It seems to me that our members of community based Hawaiian Civic Clubs on Oahu are particularly well suited to be represented on the Neighborhood Boards. Many of our elected leaders started out on the Neighborhood Boards. Mayor Caldwell stated that he served on both Manoa and Kaimuki Neighborhood Boards. Please go to the website for more information on maps and districts. Club presidents please share this information with your members. "
