2018 Council Report

 

The Mainland Council honors and celebrates the lives of Victor Michael Kaiwi Aki-Pang of ʿĀinahau O Kaleponi Hawaiian Civic Club and Henry “Ka’ono’i” Kim of Lau Kanaka No Hawai`i Hawaiian Civic Club of Arizona. These two angel warriors exemplified kuleana, `ike, na`au pono, malama, ho`ihi and laulima; joyful responsibility, avid knowledge seeking, a deep sense of justice, active caring of each other, respect for the views of all and harmonious work. They have been and will continue to be Mai Loko Mai O Ke Kumu Maoli; From Within the Native Source; our Native Source.

Hui Hawai`i O Tenesi is celebrating their 10th anniversary!

Ke Ali`i Bernice Pauahi Paki HCC aspires to grow kalo in Missouri as John Kaiahua did for many years before his passing in 2017.

Ke Ali`i David La`amea Kalakaua elected a new Board. Welcome Pelekikena Isaac (Ike) Keliipio IV, Hope Pelekikena `Ekahi Nancy Doers, Hope Pelekikena `Elua Greg Wong, Pu`uku Sandra Cunningham, and Hope Kakau `Olelo Anita Bradley.

Ke Ali`i Maka`ainana HCC of Washington, D.C. hosted two 2018 Kamehameha Lei Draping Ceremony Community rehearsals. The Mainland Council delivered Ku Ha`aheo under the direction of Kumu Hula Hinaleimoana Kwai Wong-Kalu on Sunday, 10 June 2018 during the annual Kamehameha Lei Draping Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Las Vegas HCC – Members of the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club “Stomped the Hill” in Washington, D.C.; visiting Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01), Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) and the senior staffer of Senator Dean Heller. Ho`omaika`i!

Lau Kanaka No Hawai`i HCC of Arizona launched a new website; www.lknhaz.org, celebrated Aloha Festival 2018 in Tempe, AZ, held their annual Fundraising Lu`au 2018 and honored the life and contributions of Henry Ka`ono`i Kim.

Na Keiki O Hawai`i gathered members and community supporters to successfully execute fundraisers and Prince Kuhio’s birthday celebration.
