2018 Club Report

Year after year we continue to touch our community through aloha and fellowship. We start in February with thankful hearts and host a special luncheon for the kupuna of Hale Mahaolu ‘Eono. From March and on we kokua the Prince Kuhio Maui Ho‘olaule‘a, Mele Mei Maui the Na Hoku Hanohano Music Festival, Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa‘u Parade & Ho‘olaule‘a, the No Ka Oi Volleyball Tournament, Festivals of Aloha, Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival. In partnership with Betty‘s Beach Cafe we fundraise at every other 2nd Friday Lahaina Town Party.

On August 24, in the midst of hurricane Lane, Lahaina was nearly incinerated by 2 wild fires. Today, 15 families and a few farms are without homes and our town is working hard each day to help mend their lives. If you are able to give please forward Visa gift cards us and we will forward to the “Lahaina Strong Waiola Resource Hub.” Funds received now will be used for building materials, clothes, appliances and whatever we can to fulfill the needs of these families. Some lost everything, from instruments, family heirlooms, to vehicles and tools. (Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club - P.O. Box 10965, Lahaina, Hawai‘i 96761) Mahalo to the Maui Police and Fire Department!

On September 3 we attended our inaugural Maui Council Convention at the University of Hawaii Maui College. Mahalo to Holoaumoku Ralar, Hailama Farden and Lui Hokoana for the wonderful opportunity to hui prior to Kauai and align our minds for November.

This year we awarded our 2018 scholarships to Jaslyn Kanoeau, Christina Nakihei, Kawehi Flores-Akiona and Taylor Panlasigui and gave a makana to Punana Leo O Lahaina. On December 8 at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa we invite you all to join us at our annual scholarship fundraiser and Pa‘ina Kalikimaka - the Manawale‘a Ball
