Ho'olehua Hawaiian Civic Club 2012
by Edwina H. Cacoulidis
Our meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., utilizing the Kalaniana'ole Hall that has been renovated and which is available for meetings and funerals when needed.
We have been busy with various functions, December 2011 we assisted the Native Hawaiian Scholarship ‘Aha, cooked and fed 125 plus servings of chili plate. Thanks to Fishing & Planting calendars that we sell every year, we derive a good income for our scholarship accounts.
March month for Hula Piko, this year it was held in Kaunakakai, we sold chicken hekka plate lunch, prior ticket sales were made to assist in a count for preparation, we were one of seven food booths, and we did quite well in sales.
June we held a garage sale, individual members sold ites to assist with their convention costs. OHA Trustee’s held their Annual Meeting on Moloka'i in June, our club assisted in feeding dinner to 125 who attended the evening community meeting. So, we had a very busy year, helping where we could.
Congratulations to Mainland Council for holding the 53rd Annual Convention in Washingtion D.C., may you have a very successful convention.
