The Hawaiian Civic Club of Wahiawa continues to be recognized Curators of Kukaniloko Birthstones State Monument. In 2009, we celebrate 49 years of service to our community of Wahiawa proper. On June 3rd, 2009, Pelekikena Lurline Hinano (Thomas) Lee ua hala. She was Pelekikena for more than 25 years and a Charter Member for over 48 years. Founders of the Hawaiian Civic Club of Wahiawa on November 10, 1960, Cardinal Kūhiō Thomas and Mary Kapai Keli‘ikipi Thomas, were her esteemed parents. Today, Kūpuna Gulstan Poepoe, Kūpuna Rose Poepoe and Kūpuna Thomas Lopez, also Charter Members for over 48 years, as well as Kūpuna Barbara Pua‘a and Kūpuna Aloha Kekipi continue to participate in our traditional cultural practices at wahi kapu O Kukaniloko. Our membership is open to Hawaiians of the global community thanks to technology today.
