Wai'anae Hawaiian Civic Club 2012
by Gege Kawelo
The Wai'anae Hawaiian Civic Club (WHCC) is proud to report the events we participated in during 2011-2012. Attended the 52nd annual AHCC convention at Turtle Bay Resort, Kahuku, HI, October 23-30, 2011; AHCC & O'ahu Council meetings; conducted WHCC quarter meetings; and leadership, capacity building and parliamentary resolution workshops.
Participated in Ali'i Sunday; cleaned Mauna 'Ala; Rotary Xmas Parade; meeting on Rail issue with Dan Grabauskas; community swap meet; provided meals for Hokule'a crew while she visited the Wai'anae Moku along with Nanaikapono, Lualuaei and Makaha HCCs; no vote/no grumble campaign; HI Maoli’s annual fundraiser; and monetary gifts to other clubs whose members had passed.
In closing, happy to report that all 9 ahupua'a boundary markers (signs) in the Wai'anae Moku have been installed and a mahalo and completion of the Signage Project paina was held at Pokai Beach Park. Much aloha goes out to our club members, partners, students, consultants and community residents for a job well done!
