‘Ahahui 2008 Activities

AHCC Convention 2007

The ‘Ahahui participated in the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs 48th Annual Convention in Anchorage Alaska, October 14-19, 2008.  There were six delegates and members in attendance.  They were Keoni Jensen, Lei Jensen, Kawaiopua Alo, Lokelani Reichert, Leihala Reyes, and Harry Kawai.  The ‘Ahahui members participated in all of the activities of the convention

Annual Christmas Party

The members of the ‘Ahahui celebrated Christmas with the Hawai’i Daughters Guild and Lei Hulu of California in December.

Lauhala Workshop

Corey Hayes, ‘Ahahui member, put on a lauhala workshop for the ‘Ahahui members, January 26, 2008 at the Jensen Hale.  The members made lauhala t-shirts.

Na Keiki Luau

Those who attended the ‘Ahahui Na Keiki Lua’u on April 13, 2008 at Cerritos Park East in Cerritos enjoyed themselves.  The menu consisted of kalua pork, laulau, poi, chicken long rice, lomi salmon, rice, haupia, pineapple, cake, punch, coffee, and water.  Kawaiopua made the mini lualua, Jensen’s made the lomi salmon, chicken long rice, haupia (Jane Pang also donated Haupia), Lokelani made the Kalua pork and rice, Leihala made the poi, and pineapple.  Other ‘Ahahui members that helped Patty Landers, Bill Riechert, Dawn Miyashiro, and Sonja Smith. Many of the quests at the lua’u also participated in the program

Alondra Park Ho’olaule’a

The ‘Ahahui managed to get through another year at the Alondra Park Ho’olaule’a (30 years).  The ‘Ahahui had the Hawaiian food booth (Kalua pork, laulau, poi, lomi salmon, opae long rice, and rice).  Members of the ‘Ahahui and friends, and members from Kaulana Halau (Randy Chang) worked very hard to satisfy the appetites of all the Hawaiians and others that stopped by.  The funds raised from this event will be used mainly for nkeiki of our community. Queen’s Birthday

In September the ‘Ahahui will celebrate the Queen Lili’uokalani’s birthday.  The ‘Ahahui has been a chartered member of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs for 31 years. The ‘Ahahui continues to participate in community activities, and provide scholarships to members of the community.
