Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club 2012
by Tamar Hoapili
The Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club remains committed strives to bring together our Hawaiian community in Southern NV. We are able to do this by collaborating with organizations both on the continent and in the islands such as Hawaii Maoli, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, University of Hawai'i Las Vegas Chapter, Kamehameha Schools Las Vegas Chapter, Nani Ola Hawaiian Dance Company and Kailiha'o Hula. This year our goal was to provide cultural connection opportunities for our members and our community. Through our Ike Pono program we were able to provide Hawaiian Language classes, arts and crafts courses, and more. In September, the LVHCC will host our 23rd Annual Prince Kuhio Ho'olaule'a, a fundraiser for our annual Founders Scholarship which assists Native Hawaiians in our community seek higher education.
