This year has been a busy one for us. We’ve started a Makawalu Series: Applying new perspectives to commonly held views. We were also fortunate enough to have an OHA Reports to the Community gathering in Salt Lake, which was very well attended. Prior to that we participated in a Webinar with Aunty Aulani and Uncle Ike Kaaihue, along with various members of our Hawaiian community in Utah. We’ve had workshops, which included learning about Pi Kai, ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i and more, It’s always rewarding for us to be actively engaged with our Hawaiian community and one such tool we employ is our new website which can be found at www.huihawaiioutah.roxer.com. Out Living Traditions festival was a success as always, with many young volunteers making it not just profitable, but fun! We experienced loss, with the passing of Aunty Ellen Selu, she is greatly missed. We’re humbled that we can continue to be not just engaged, but effectively and culturally empowering in our community.
