US CENSUS 2010: CIVIC CLUBS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE |
|
Monday, 23 November 2009 11:03 |
During the month of February and March 2010, the U.S. Census will be conducted. The 2010 census is an opportunity for Native Hawaiian voices to be heard, .to let others know who we are, where we are and what the needs are of all our people. Participation will help shape the future of our community. Census data helps to plan for health care facilities, nursing homes, clinics and other health services; identifying facilities/locations for people with disabilities, children or the elderly; forecasting future transportation needs, including public transportation, roads and other infrastructure; attracting new businesses to the state; forecasting future housing needs for all segments of the population; drawing school district boundaries; drawing state and local legislative districts; reapportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and so much more.

Thank You (Health Reform Update) |
|
Friday, 02 October 2009 17:17 |
This week we asked you to take action and you did. We asked you to:
- Tell your senator to support health care reform that provides security and stability to all Americans by giving them the option of selecting a public plan.
- Tell your senator to ensure that health care reform treats everyone fairly. Under the current proposals for health care reform, legal immigrants who qualify for Medicaid services are unfairly denied access to the program for five years even though they pay taxes like everyone else.
- Tell your senator to oppose the imposition of any further barriers such as a costly immigration status verification requirement.
We asked you to contact your members and urge them to support the Public Plan option and to support the following amendments: Rockefeller (C11 and C19), Menendez/Rockefeller (C12), Menendez/Bingaman (C2) and oppose the following amendments: Kyl (C12 and C14), Grassley (F6), and Ensign (C1, C2, C3).
